For my first TBR pile, I decided to choose three books. I have a slight (slightly huge) addiction to buying books, but because of school, family, and whatnot the pile grows quicker than I have time to read. So here are three that I have laying around and haven’t read yet. The descriptions of these books are from the back or inside flap because I haven’t read them yet.
- (Romantic Suspense) Nicholas Sparks: Safe Haven I know, I know. How haven’t I read this yet? The movie is out and I want to see it but I have this policy where I will not see a book-themed movies if I haven’t read it. So Safe Haven:
“When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with her plainspoken neighbor, Jo; and another with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. Katie slowly begins to relax her guard, putting down roots in the community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.
But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with a dark secret that still haunts her. With Jo’s support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards...and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.”
2) (YA) Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler: The Future of Us:
“It’s 1996, and less than half of all American high school students have ever used the internet. Emma just got her first computer and an America Online CD-ROM. Josh is her best friend. They power up and log on-and discover themselves on Facebook, fifteen years in the future.”
3) (Romantic Suspense) Nora Roberts: Hidden Riches:
“Dora Conroy has a passion for antiques-and any other rarities she can acquire for her quaint Philadelphia shop. A seasoned dealer, she knows all the tricks of the trade. But she is unprepared for the deadly consequences when she purchases a few curiosities at a auction-and unknowingly brings home a priceless cache that makes her the target of an international criminal.
Entwined in a reckless chase, Dora turns to her new neighbor, Jed Skimmerhorn, a cop who”s turned in his badge-and whose desire for lovely Dora puts him back in the line of fire. Fighting their attraction while falling in love, they find that hidden riches can have a most ordinary façade, And that possession can be a lethal obsession.”
The one I'm probably most excited about reading is Safe Haven just because of the description and the movies looks good also.
