New Year's Challenge Day 5

Book Blogger New Year's Challenge

The Book Blogger New Year's Challenge hosted by Parajunkee.

Day 5 (Worst Books of 2013):

I really don't like to say that a book was the worst or that it was bad, but some books that I can think of from 2013 that I didn't particularly like were:

5) Larry Rodness' Perverse
4) Marie Stephens' The Mating Call
3) M.G. Dekle's The Crystal Ordeal (Legends of Leone)
2) Nasheen Sadir's A Second Chance for Christmas

And the worst book that I read in 2013 was Colleen Houck's Tiger's Destiny.

It is the fourth book in the series and I was absolutely infuriated after reading it. I was so happy to finally read the conclusion as I read the first three books in previous years and for some reason put off reading this one.

I sincerely wish I'd never read this book. I literally threw the book as soon as I turned the last page.
This series, much like the Twilight series, involves a love triangle. This one is between two brothers. Without going into too much detail I will say that I really liked the first two books, the third was ehh, and this one I wanted to burn. The main character Kelsey is whiny and annoying and just strings along one of the brothers to get to the other. But that's not what had me so irritated. It is the way the author ended the series and I guess decided to wrap up all the mysteries in the previous books. She involves some sort of weird time travel reincarnation explanation that left me more confused than I think I have ever been. I was so baffled I couldn't form complete sentences and my roommate let me babble on about the ridiculousness for about ten straight minutes. I would definitely warn anyone away from reading this book.

These are only a few that I can think of that I've read in 2013 that I didn't really like.

If you want to follow along here are the topics for each day:

  1. I haven't read any of the books on your list (luckily!)

Hopefully 2014 will be a year of better reading for you!

  3. I have so badly wanted to read this series! I think the covers of them are very unique and interesting. Hopefully the other books in the series are better than this one.

  4. Aww, I kind of wish your roommate had recorded your babble rant! I haven't read any of the books on your list, but I feel good about trusting your opinion and keeping them off my radar. ;)

  5. "I literally threw the book as soon as I turned the last page." I hope there is no book throwing in 2014! Good luck finding better books to read this year!

  6. That is a shame, I hate when a series fails and I've heard great things about the first book. :(

  7. Aww, that's awful when a series ends like that. I haven't read this one yet and I don't think I will be. Hopefully you'll have much better luck with series this year!
