A book that I really want to read is Michelle A. Valentine's Phenomenal X. 

Good Girl. Notorious Bad-Boy. One Phenomenal Love.

From the mean streets of Detroit rises the newest superstar of professional wrestling, Xavier Cold, better known as Phenomenal X. His muscular physique makes men cower before him and woman lose their minds with desire.

Anna Cortez is fresh out of college and naive to the harsh realities of the real world. Tired of living under the thumb of her conservative family, she defies them when she accepts a job as the assistant to wrestling’s most notorious bad-boy. Phenomenal X has an animalistic nature that even good girl Anna finds hard to resist.

One night forced to share a bed in a sold-out hotel, lines blur between them and they quickly learn that one lustful night changes everything and neither one of them will ever be the same.

I have loved every book by this author and I am dying to read this one. 

And...this question was posted: 

Question: Are “best” and “favorite” the same thing? If someone asked you “What’s the best book you ever read?” would the answer be the same as for “What’s your favorite?”

I don't think best and favorite have to be the same thing because something that is the "best"  like a sports team may not be your favorite sports team. Or a book that pretty much everyone has read and liked may be considered one of the "best" but your favorite book is something different. I think "best" can be considered something that is superior to another while "favorite" is something that you have a personal preference for.

This Monday is a ramble about indie books.

I love indie books, believe me I do, but something that really bothers me is the poor editing that some of them have. I know that in the process of producing an indie book there may not be money or resources to get someone to edit your book, but some indie books I read have very simple grammatical or spelling errors.

I've seen multiple spellings of to (to, too, two) in the same paragraph which just makes me cringe. I've also seen alternating tenses within the same page, which makes a story very confusing. Also, when an author doesn't tell who is speaking I get so confused. When this happens sometimes I have to go back several pages to figure out who was speaking last. 

Sometimes I think that indie books and authors should have more reviewers when the book is in it's early stages so that it can be the best book it possible can be.

Right now, I am working on reading Stephen King's Under the Dome. I have attempted to read this book several times in the past but I always get sidetracked or caught up in other things. I always seem to stop after the first two chapters. Now that there is a television show based on this book I really want to read it so I can watch the show. Usually I read very quickly and I like to read a book straight through; however, seeing as how this book is 1072 pages long and it's the holidays, I will probably be reading this book over a period of time. 

I think I might want to read this book slowly so that I can truly understand it since it is such a lengthy book. Last year I read Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and I absolutely loved it, however I had to read it in parts over a couple of months so that I could truly appreciate the work. I might post small posts about the book while I read this book also.

Recently I have bought the entire series of Her Russian Protector by Roxie Rivera.

I have pretty much read the entire series in 4 days to one week. I really like this series and I think anyone who loves suspense and romance and Russian culture and the Russian mob will love these books. This series has only made me want to learn to speak Russian even more than I already do.

The series is an arc series about four friends: Ivan, Dimitri, Nikolai, Yuri. There is also a fifth book Sergei which is about an enforcer and fighter finding love. All five books are about seemingly intimidating, cold, hard men finding that one woman that truly loves them. 

Ivan, which is the first book, is currently free on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and I really think you should check it out. You won't be disappointed.

A book that I just finished last night is Wild Hyacinthe by Nola Sarina and Emily Faith. I really enjoyed that novel because it was about an incubus' struggle to deal with needs when he finds a woman he can actually love. I thought the novel was a little short but that could be because I just wanted more of the story. I have read several of Nola Sarina's books in the past and have always enjoyed them so I wasn't surprised I liked this one too. I was also interested to see her collaborate with another author and now that I have I need to see more from Emily Faith.

Something that really irritates me about when people read books is when they fold the cover of the book all the way backwards. 

This literally drives me insane. I want to cringe every time I see this. I don't know if I'm just overly sympathetic to books but why would you bend the poor book's spine so much? What has the book ever done to you? 

Not only does the book no longer lay flat when you close it but now the spine is permanently damaged.

I really don't know why but people who do this absolutely baffle me. I see it all the time and I cannot even begin to fathom why someone would do this. It has never crossed my mind to abuse a book in this fashion. Would you want someone to do this to your spine?

A book that I recently bought for myself is Warm Bodies by Issac Marion. I have been wanting to read this book for a while now. I haven't seen the movie yet either and because I am dying to watch the movie I thought I should probably read the novel first. I usually try to read a book first before I go to see the movie adaptation of it because I want to develop my own opinions of the characters. Also because the book is pretty much always better than the movie.

My Reading Habits: 

Something I think is weird about the way that I read is that I cannot read a book slowly. I have tried many times to stretch out a book just so that I can savor it and enjoy it for a longer period of time but I just can't. I also get irritated if I cannot read a book from start to finish in one sitting. I usually will read books from beginning to end so I don't like it when I am interrupted or I have to go do something else. So this especially annoys me now because I am in college and I have to balance reading and blogging with studying and school work.

 I think it is strange that I cannot read a book slowly but I think it can also be a good thing because I become captivated by the story and cannot put it down. But I cannot do this for nonfiction or books that I have no interest in. Those take me a long time to finish.

A book that I am about to begin is Scarlet. It is the second of the 

Lunar Chronicles. I absolutely loved Cinder so I am definitely looking forward to 

this novel and I hope that I enjoy it.

Right now I am desperate to get my hands on Thankless in Death by J.D. Robb. It is the latest in her Eve Dallas series, 38th full length novel, 46th if you count novellas. It will is set to be released Sept. 17 so I don't have much longer to wait. J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts is probably my favorite author. I have read almost every novel that Nora Roberts as written and that is in upwards of 100.

A book that I recently bought for myself is Croak by Gina Damico. 

I chose this book because it is about Grim Reapers in training. A teenage girl, Lex is sent to live with her uncle after her parents become fed up with her behavior. Her uncle lives on a farm, but there he teaches Lex the family business of being a Grim Reaper. I also chose this book because of the cover:

Right now I am dying for several books to be released. My TBR pile is gigantic but I still cannot wait because once I begin a series I need the rest or I feel like the story is incomplete. I'm waiting for Cress of the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, the third book in the Verdantia series by Patricia A Knight, and the sequel to Bethany Aan's Hearts of Ishira. Waiting for sequels is the hardest part of loving books in my opinion. Thankfully since running a book blog I have many books to fill the void but I still have these release dates marked on my calendar.

Today I decided to do the last one and ramble/tell you why books are so important to me...in a new way.

Once upon a time there was a girl who was very, very shy. She was also insecure about a lot of things and did not make friends easily. In school, she eventually made some friends but never ones she told everything to or did everything with. This lonely girl mostly spent her time alone and was very quiet. One day she discovered books. Now of course she had known what books were, her mother and father had read to her as a child but these were different. These were books she could read on her own and were about things she wanted to read about. As the years went on the girl experienced love, pain, and triumph all found in the bindings of books. They were here safe haven away from the terribleness of middle school and the ambiguity of high school. They were her friends on those lonely Saturday nights. Now that college is about to begin the shy girl has become determined to put on her big girl pants and become more outgoing. She is impatiently awaiting her happily ever after, but books will always be there for her. 

NOT The End.

BTW I'm not a total recluse. I did go to dances, prom, the movies, and a few sleepovers. I just spend a lot of time alone.

For my first Musing Monday I have decided to talk about one of my reading habits. It's a little strange but here goes. Whenever I read a book I like to put myself in there like I'm one of the characters. I have no idea why but I think it helps me concentrate on the action more if I think of it happening to me. Action/mystery/suspense novels can get a bit scary. Romance novels are fun [I've kissed a lot of vampires and werewolves in paranormal books ;) ] because I can imagine myself falling in love with all of those gorgeous men that I will never actually meet. I guess that is why I love this picture so much...
